El Guapo's trip to Hawaii a total Success! (Except that we miss him terribly!)

El Guapo is now with his family in Kahului, Hawaii.

The little man and I left Morro Bay at 2:30 a.m. to drive 4 hours to the airport, and it was COLD! So cold and so early that I could not get Guapo to poop.

I had nightmares of Guapo taking a squat either in the ticketing line or worse on the plane!

So, right before my wonderful husband jumped back in bed with Stella and Gunther he had these parting words... "Well honey, I guess you'll just have to stop in a couple hours when you get down to Ventura".

Gee, thanks.

On our way down to Ventura, I happened to see a shooting star and of course my wish was that everything would go smoothly for me and El Guapo. To my dismay though, he still wouldn't poop at the half way point to the airport and time was running out.

We got the car parked. Shuttled over to Los Angeles Airport and then stood at the ticket counter FOREVER while the ticketing agent made sure he didn't lose his job over letting Guapo sit with me in the cabin during the flight to Hawaii. Because Hawaii has very strict quarantine laws, pets usually have to be shipped with baggage. I had all of his necessary documentation and finally after speaking with a supervisor we were issued our boarding pass. And... with a few minutes to spare for a poop.  But, Guapo will not poop before it's time and it wasn't time. ARG!

After getting through ticketing, security and the gate agents with El Guapo we finally made it to our seats on the plane. The flight attendants of course thought he was so cute. But I thought, let's see how cute you think he is when he has to take a dump at 12,000 feet...

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by Guapo. He slept the entire 5 hour flight to Honolulu curled up in my lap. A couple snorts and farts here and there, but otherwise very uneventful.

After landing in Honolulu, we were escorted from the plane to the quarantine station and within 15 minutes Guapo was officially a Hawaiian resident. I decided to walk him back to the terminal to catch our next flight to Maui so he could relieve himself. He finally pooped. I guess he decided the grass was finally warm enough to squat in.

Guapo wasn't too thrilled about getting on another airplane. But, after a short 40 minute flight, he got to see his dad. His name is Scott.

His mom Andrea couldn't be at the airport because she was taking care of his brother Bryson and...

sister Avalon.

Guapo's family is thrilled to have him.

I took a redeye from Maui to Los Angeles and I'm grateful it was dark because I did a lot of weeping. I'm gonna miss that little guy...

Yippee for El Guapo - what a lucky guy he is! We were laughing hysterically about the havin to take a dump at 12,000 feet - Brutus could clear that cabin with his gas when he has to go!! I looks like he has a great home, and I'm sure yours will feel full again once Roxy comes home!! Look out, it's cold in Ohio too!!

What a relief. Guess the little chap wanted to save his stuff up for his new home to make it feel right from the start.

It is really hard to part with a pug. He was so lucky to be with you and lucky now to have a forever home. The tears you shed are sad ones but they will eventually turn to tears of joy once you see he has settled in to his new home and is loved like he was in your home. Parting is difficult and he will always remember his time with you. Yeah to the successful arrival in Hawaii! Lucky puggers! I want to live in the wonderful weather of Hawaii!!!!!

Thank you for the many encouraging and supportive words. We ALL appreciate them!

Guapo's dad reported yesterday that they all went to a place called Jaws in Maui to watch the giant waves. The walk was kinda long so of course Guapo was carried... BOL!

Oh how he's missed, but I think he's gonna be just fine. :)

I am so impressed with not just El Guapo, but with YOU! What a journey and you did it all for him. You are a very special person, and you just made Minnesota about ten degrees warmer. (which is alot when it's ten below.)
