We are very thankful for all the pawsitivly wonderful blogger friends we've met. And we're also thankful for all the time we've got to spend with El Guapo before he goes to his forever family.
Thanks Brutus, for the idea of thanking our humans for giving us a roof over head, warm beds to sleep in and food in our tummies.
I like to think it starts with me, but it really doesn't....
It begins with our dear Hunter. He was born 9/24/05. Mom & dad found him in a nasty pet store. He'd been there for 4 months and sick with a cold. Mom refused to leave him there even though she doesn't believe in getting us at those kinds of places. He coughed all the time, so mom had him at the vet at least once a week trying to get him feeling better.

A few months after getting Hunter, mom learned puggies really love having a buddy. So began the search. Mom & dad were referred to my human's in Utah. Utah! Mom doesn't feel comfortable about shipping animals. Dad said, "well let's make a road trip out of it". So they loaded up Hunter and lot's of blankies and drove from California to Utah to come get me.
This is me on dad's lap on the way back to California. I was born on 1/24/2006. I was two months old in this picture.
Hunter was my bestest friend, teaching me all the ropes. Where he went, I went. One day, I went with mom to take Hunter to a specialist. They were gonna do some tests on his lungs to find out why he couldn't stop coughing. He was jumping around the exam room, makin' everyone laugh as usual. Mom and I kissed him goodbye and planned on picking him up later that afternoon.
Shortly after daddy got home from work, we got a phone call that our Hunter arrested during a routine lung test. His poor lungs were so diseased, he had mucus plugs filling holes in his lungs. The doctor thought he suffered this from the neglect he received from the puppy mill and pet store. She tried to console mom & dad by telling them at least he passed while under anesthesia and in peace. He crossed over the rainbow bridge on 9/26/2006.
Mom and dad cried & cried for days. I was pretty sad too. I wouldn't even let mom go to the bathroom without taking me with her.
Finally, dad said we needed to start looking for a companion for me. What?! I couldn't believe they thought anyone could replace Hunter. Mom wasn't really ready to start looking for another puggie either, but dad thought it was a good idea since I was feeling so lonely.
Mom and dad looked at soooo many puppies. Maybe because their hearts were still broken, they just couldn't seem to find the right one.
Then, mom met Debbie, Gunther's human. Mom told her our story and Debbie said she would help mom find a wonderful baby even if we didn't fall in love with one of hers. Debbie said she had two puppies left that were EXTREMELY healthy. One that was really outgoing, and one that was more reserved. She said I could even come along to meet my potential brother.
We sat at Debbie's house, the first one to jump in mom and dad's lap was Gunther. He hadn't gone up to anyone else before. Debbie said he picked us. And we picked him....
Gunther was born 6/22/06. He came to live with us when he was 3 months old. This is his first day home.

What a great story. Gunther looked kind of goofy as a pup, huh. But now he is a handsome friend for you. You will always remember Hunter for sure.
Slobbers,
Mango
We loved this nice story (and mom is all sappy and snotting at the part about poor Hunter). You two are SO cute together and it looks like you and the "lug" have a lot of fun together now!
Love,

Hey puggie buddies...
Just finally catching up on my reading since mom has been either too busy running me around agility courses or too tied up with her sickies to get to the computer. What a great story! Mom was sad when she read the part about Hunter since she unexpectedly lost her first doggy as a pup during a "routine" procedure too (neutering).
Have to say I was quite concerned when I saw my dearest Stella in a pot on the stove, worried someone had mistaken her for thanksgiving dinner.... But then I just pawsitively melted to see that photo of her as a lil' pup. Think I'll have mom print that to hang behind my crate & to give me something to look at when I feel lonely :)
Speaking of which - we are perplexed by your new title photo... Appears that you two have swapped paws?? How nice that you'll lay so close together.
Snorts & Snuggles,
Brutus the Frenchie
