Special Carrier my Butt

El Guapo here. Lot's of fuss going on right now. Did ja pack this, did ja remember that? Blah blah blah. All this stress is harshin' my mellow.

I went with my ma today on all her errands to 'test out' my special carrier. First we stopped at the docs to say goodbye to everyone and pick up all my papers for my new doc in Maui. Lot's of leaky peeps there. Ma promised she would call them when we got to Maui so they knew we made it safe. Then we stopped at the bank, the post office and then the hair salon. That's when I had to sit in the so called special carrier.

Frankly, I'm not finding anything too special about it. Ma said I gotta get used to it because it's a 5 hour flight to Hawaii. I'd rather sit in her lap, but she said I'm to squirmy and once we get to the airport, I'm not allowed to walk through the airport until we get through quarantine. For cryin' out loud! What if I gotta pee?

I think I'm just gonna go hide in the laundry basket, maybe they won't find me...

Gunther & Guapo's Bromance

Just a few days from now, El Guapo will be with his forever family. And dang it! While we weren't payin' attention, we all fell madly in love with him.

Specially Gunther

And El Guapo with Gunther

Shucks, I think he's pretty neat too...

The wonderful thing is El Guapo will be with his family who will spoil him rotten. His mom stays home with his human brother and sister. And when dad isn't working, they all caravan to the beach and lounge under the shade of the palm trees, El Guapo included. His dad has been calling everyday too, so excited to see his boy! We're happy for them. But couldn't they live a little closer? This is gonna make play dates really hard!

Vala the flying Dog

At first, I thought mom was pulling our leg (with Gunther, that's not hard to do). A flying dog? But then she explained that Vala flies with her dad in his airplane. And she has her own pink headset so the noise doesn't bother her ears. Mom got a picture of Vala on her most recent flight.

Vala was rescued from a shelter by her dad. She's kinda shy and doesn't take kindly to strangers, so we haven't been formally introduced yet. But mom says she talks about us to Vala all the time when she's doing counting work for Vala's dad.

Yipee for Vala! From the cement floors of a shelter to soaring like an eagle in her dads airplane! Couldn't get any better than that...

TGIF

We hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Mom spent all day cooking. We weren't allowed in the kitchen when dad had to pull the turkey out of the oven to baste it, which was every half hour, so pretty much the entire day. Hmpf.

After the turkey was done, mom & dad packed up some of our stuffies and our gates and we went up to Paso Robles to see our giant family. There are 8 human cousins now! OMG! We didn't get a moments rest.

Guapo is so tired. Instead of picking out a stuffie to play with, he just decided to nap inside the toy box today...

Stella didn't even raise an eyebrow when asked if she wanted a cookie.

Daddy...hold me.

Take it easy my friends,
Gunther

Happy Pugsgiving!

We are very thankful for all the pawsitivly wonderful blogger friends we've met. And we're also thankful for all the time we've got to spend with El Guapo before he goes to his forever family.

Thanks Brutus, for the idea of thanking our humans for giving us a roof over head, warm beds to sleep in and food in our tummies.

I like to think it starts with me, but it really doesn't....
It begins with our dear Hunter. He was born 9/24/05. Mom & dad found him in a nasty pet store. He'd been there for 4 months and sick with a cold. Mom refused to leave him there even though she doesn't believe in getting us at those kinds of places. He coughed all the time, so mom had him at the vet at least once a week trying to get him feeling better.

A few months after getting Hunter, mom learned puggies really love having a buddy. So began the search. Mom & dad were referred to my human's in Utah. Utah! Mom doesn't feel comfortable about shipping animals. Dad said, "well let's make a road trip out of it". So they loaded up Hunter and lot's of blankies and drove from California to Utah to come get me.

This is me on dad's lap on the way back to California. I was born on 1/24/2006. I was two months old in this picture.

Hunter was my bestest friend, teaching me all the ropes. Where he went, I went. One day, I went with mom to take Hunter to a specialist. They were gonna do some tests on his lungs to find out why he couldn't stop coughing. He was jumping around the exam room, makin' everyone laugh as usual. Mom and I kissed him goodbye and planned on picking him up later that afternoon.

Shortly after daddy got home from work, we got a phone call that our Hunter arrested during a routine lung test. His poor lungs were so diseased, he had mucus plugs filling holes in his lungs. The doctor thought he suffered this from the neglect he received from the puppy mill and pet store. She tried to console mom & dad by telling them at least he passed while under anesthesia and in peace. He crossed over the rainbow bridge on 9/26/2006.
Mom and dad cried & cried for days. I was pretty sad too. I wouldn't even let mom go to the bathroom without taking me with her.

Finally, dad said we needed to start looking for a companion for me. What?! I couldn't believe they thought anyone could replace Hunter. Mom wasn't really ready to start looking for another puggie either, but dad thought it was a good idea since I was feeling so lonely.

Mom and dad looked at soooo many puppies. Maybe because their hearts were still broken, they just couldn't seem to find the right one.

Then, mom met Debbie, Gunther's human. Mom told her our story and Debbie said she would help mom find a wonderful baby even if we didn't fall in love with one of hers. Debbie said she had two puppies left that were EXTREMELY healthy. One that was really outgoing, and one that was more reserved. She said I could even come along to meet my potential brother.

We sat at Debbie's house, the first one to jump in mom and dad's lap was Gunther. He hadn't gone up to anyone else before. Debbie said he picked us. And we picked him....

Gunther was born 6/22/06. He came to live with us when he was 3 months old. This is his first day home.

It took a few weeks for me to warm up to the big lug. I should have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize for how patient I was.

What do I look like? A dang ottoman?

After awhile, Gunther learned the ropes. Including the most important fact, that I'm the boss.

Now we're inseparable and the bestest of friends. He acts like a doofus most of the time, but I love him.

Meet our new sister (not to worry dear Brutus)...

Her name is Roxy.

Mom and dad filled out adoption papers for her with the French Bulldog Rescue Network.

http://www.frenchbulldogrescue.org

It takes a little while to make sure you're a good family before they can come live with you.

I was a kinda afraid with Stella hogging toys and not sharing Henrietta Rubber Chicken, they'd say no. But lucky for us Stella was on her best behavior and they decided we'd be a great home for Roxy.

Like the saying goes, good things come to those who wait...

We're all enjoying our last couple weeks with El Guapo before mom takes him to his forever family in Hawaii. After she gets back, she'll be home for a few days, then get back on the big silver bird to get Roxy and bring her home. Then we'll be her forever family!

Not so relaxing Sunday

My plans for napping on the couch were squashed.

Something about needing to fix the back gate, everyone get in the car, we're going to Home Depot. Blah!

Stella waiting for dad to grab the cart. Or should I say, the princess waiting for her chariot. Looks like she's got some extra junk in her trunk. Maybe that's where her neck went.

Yup. We bad.
Don't make us jump outta this cart an come after you.

How can anyone fall asleep in Home Depot?! Chicks.

Guapo, are you seeing what I'm seeing?

I wonder if Mango the Ridiculously Huge has been here...

Holy crap Batman. That's the biggest pile of *@#& I've ever seen!!

We outta here.
Step aside bub, VIPs coming through!

Taking a nap...
Gunther

Whatcha get me?!

Ma stopped at Petco without us today. She was in town, yadda yadda.... We're not happy about it, but look what we got!

Guapo got a new collar and tag with his new Hawaiian address;

Does ma collar not scream Hawaii?

Oh, so sorry. Of course you need a better view of how handsome I look in my new Hawaiian collar. Check me out ladies...

Okay, okay! Enough with him! What did you get us?
Forget Stella, she's got Henreitta and Bernice. What about MEEEEEE?

Stuffie!!!

Oh mamma, you do love me. You really really do. I'm so happy, I might even share with Stella.

Raspberries out to all my buds, Gunther!

Feelin' a Little Blue

Mamma has started packing for El Guapo to be with his family in Hawaii. Two weeks from today, they drive down to a place where there's so many cars on the road it looks like a line of ants. It scurrs me. They'll spend a night with Gramma, then get on a big silver bird and fly over the ocean to where El Guapo's forever family will be waiting.

Notice my big sad eyes?
Of course I'm gonna miss my best buddy, El Guapo Llamas Sanchez Ramon Santuro Hererra Alvarado-Smith.

But what I'm really bummed about,

hold on, gotta make sure you know who isn't coming....

I'm afraid to be left alone with her.

Hola Amigos! Si, it is almost time I leave for my forever home. Today, the doctor stuck a termamater up ma butt, listened to my hart, looked in my ears. All gud. Of course! Then, we went to a place ware papars get sent to Hawaii before I get there. I don ask why. Hawaii has some strange rules. Whateva. All I know is I need a really big suitcase for all my stuff. Where's your tings gonna fit ma?

Most importantly.... Hopefully Stella won't notice.

Sorry El Guapo, buddy ole pal. Stella hasn't taken her paws off Henrietta Rubber Chicken since Puglet sent it to her from Fran Sisco. Look at that death stare. How could you leave me here with her?! I thought you were my friend!

Sloppy kisses from Gunther

Bernice Rubber Flamingo joins Henrietta Rubber Chicken

Hola to all my doggy pals, El Guapo here. I'm tinking to myself, ees not fair Ms. Stella always get to play wit Henrietta Rubber Chicken. I tink es my turn.

S'cuse senorita. El Guapo taking dis chicken.
Si, I took Ms. Stella's chicken. I not afraid of you two!

Chicken a little bland. Could use Tapatio...

Oh, hey. Whaazzzz Up ma? You know, I was just sitting here and then Henrietta Rubber Chicken fell out of the sky into my mouth. It was the weirdest thing!

I cannot believe you ran and tattled on me, Stella. You ALWAYS get to play with Henrietta. And for your information, I was not pretending to be Antonio Banderas!

With all due respect, ma. You think by introducing Stella to Bernice Rubber Flamingo, she's going to share Henrietta Rubber Chicken? Nice try, but I think we all know how this is going to end..

I have absolutely no idea what Guapo is talking about. I'm just a sweet baby girl who daddy says is perfect.

I just don't see a reason to split these two up. I'm sure you can find something else to play with Guapo...
